SE: What Was Your Journey Like? TH: The journey was filled with challenges, calculated risk, building my faith, having patience to believe God, learning to trust God, learning to prove Him and that His word is true. So the journey was a spiritual journey. Entrepreneurs need to know that pass the natural things you can do, the spiritual things are necessary. The journey of understanding who God is, who you are in Him, understanding His principles, His love, and that faith work, is not negotiable. Patience really sustains you, humility is the under penning that undergird your life and most important to your character. Those are the things I learned, I learned how to have courage, how to continue to believe God, how to continue to trust God, that was the journey. The bible says, seek, first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added. Learning to believe the Word, try the Word, walk the Word, talk the Word, live the Work, and think the Word. SE: How has your magazine affected change in the lives of your readers? TH: We received letters from people all the time that are encouraged and inspired by what we print. Gospel Today is a lifestyle, we talk about everything from fashion, to fitness, health, how to raise your kids, conduct relationships, how you date, how you interface with your husband, and your wife. People need to know, being a person of faith is a lifestyle. There is very little out there in the mainstream media that inspire people to live a more quality life. We talk about how to eat right, how to exercise, but really how do you tie all that together. The hierarchy of who we are comes from how we think. So when you influence peoples thought patterns that's when you deal with how they live. If I think I want to be thin, I can eat right, but then I could be smoking or drinking or having sex, if that's what I'm doing then it doesn't matter how I eat because I'm still killing myself on another aspect of my life, it's holistic and that's where Gospel Today have carved out a niche and thank God a lot of people have recognized and appreciate that. SE: Tell us about the birth of Gospel Today. TH: It came out of a very devastating personal relationship. I went through some tough places in my life. What I found out, was the only way I could really be restored, was to come back into a relationship with God, I found my way back through worship, coming back to a place of prayer, praise, and practicing the things of God in my life. When I came to that place through worship, I began to be emotionally healed, my spirit got back into the right place. When I got there I said, 'WOW how many people are missing the peace of God, the joy of God, and the joy of living.' The pursuit of your purpose, how do you do that outside of the understanding of who God is and what He called you to do? Who you are and what you think of yourself, and the value you put on yourself can only be realized through understanding God. And so, in your relationship with Him you got to understand how to get to God. A friend of mine, Judy McAllister said, "Praise is the vehicle to get to the place of worship. You get on the ride of praise and you get to the destination of worship". |

Worship is where God lives, where God dwells, and understanding where God dwells in His presence there is fullness of joy and His right hand are pleasures for evermore. That's where we want to live, where there is pleasure, there is fullness and fulfillment. We got to establish our lives as places of worship, as activities of worship, in knowing that I said let me try to do this and help other people get there too. That's how the conference came about. We are finding that Pastors are seeing the conference change their church when they acknowledge and prioritize worship. You have to have a personal relationship, it transcends you, bubbles over in your space, your environment, your calling, and your vocation, it changes us as a people, and it changes our world, why, because we understand who we are and what we are called to do. |

SE: Tell us about The Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference. TH: It is going to be a phenomenal two days and people are carving out those two days in their schedule, not because they want to go to another conference, but because they want a true experience with God. That's what we treasure about the two day gathering beginning on Thursday, February 18-19, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL at Bethel Baptist Church. We are going to open it up with Bishop Rudolph McKissick Jr., host Pastor, that night we have Bishop Noel Jones, Friday Kirk Franklin, and closing night we have a big concert and are going salute 21 years of Gospel Today with Bishop Paul Morton, Jonathan Nelson, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and others. Tickets can be purchased online www.GospelHeritage.org or by calling 770-719-4825. SE: Please lend us your "Jewels of Wisdom." TH: Romans 8:28 all things work together for God. Of course we know that we are called, shaped and uniquely made and formed according to God's purpose and plans for our life. He had a plan when He created us. We have to find out what that is, by subjecting our mind, body, spirit, and soul to the will of God. The more we understand the Word and how to apply that in our lives, the more we are able to accomplish the purpose of God in our lives. Know that everything that you have gone through, the good, the bad, horrible, set back, divorce, the job layoff, unemployment, all have a purpose, it's up to you to understand what that purpose is and to go to God to say show me this, be humble enough to say here are the mistakes I've made and here's the lessen I've learned. Even the mistakes we made God will turn them around and use it as a blessing. We have to understand that all we went through this for a purpose that we can use to fulfill the plan of God in our lives. What is your favorite quote? TH: Where God gives vision He makes provision. |
